We welcome developers and contributors who wish to start a new forum section for their application or project. The prerequisites are few and the steps extremely simple.
To obtain a developer badge, you must have a developer account and log in to KDE Discuss "as KDE Contributor" through Invent.

# The application or project should be related to KDE.
# There should be enough interest to fill the forum.
# At least one person involved with the application or project must be willing to moderate the forum.

The requests are considered on a case-by-case basis but usually there are no problems. When in doubt, just ask.
Tags are used to organize content and filter topics. See this Discourse [https://blog.discourse.org/2017/10/its-time-we-talked-about-tags/ blog post] about using tags.

Konqi and friends get together!

KDE Discuss is the official forum for KDE. This page contains some useful information for developers, contributors, and users who wish to use the forums.

For more information about KDE Discuss, including the Code of Conduct, see the Forum FAQ.

Developer badges

Developer badges are used to easily identify KDE developers in the forum. The developer badge is the blue KDE logo to the lower right of the developer's profile picture.

To obtain a developer badge, you must have a developer account and log in to KDE Discuss "as KDE Contributor" through Invent.

You can see a list of developers with a badge here.

Adding tags

Everyone can add new tag: just create a post and write a tag (existing one are auto-completed).

Tags are used to organize content and filter topics. See this Discourse blog post about using tags.

New top-level categories will generally not be added to the forum. Users should use tags to categorize their posts.

Following RSS Feeds

It is possible to follow RSS feeds using discuss.kde.org. For example:

- To follow categories: https://discuss.kde.org/c/[category_name].rss - To follow tags: https://discuss.kde.org/tag/[tag_name].rss

See [this post](https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-rss-feeds-list/264134) at the Discourse forum for more examples.

Mailing List Mode

Forum users can enable "Mailing list mode" under Profile > Preferences > Emails > Mailing list mode. You can either receive an email for all posts, or for all but your own.

One advantage of mailing list mode is that you can reply to posts by email. To respond via email, click "Reply" in your mail client. That's it!

By default you are subscribed to posts for all categories. To disable notifications for a specific category, visit the category page and mute it in the notification preference menu (i.e., the bell symbol).

General questions

General questions and comments can be posted to Site Feedback. Note that questions and comments are visible to everyone.

Report a bug

Precise and concrete bug reports should be reported to Bugzilla at https://bugs.kde.org.

Basic or vague help requests for KDE apps should be posted at the forum's Help category. If you are not sure whether an issue is a bug or not, please post to the Help category.
