Read everything on this page very carefully before entering your submission.
Rules
- The deadline for submissions is ...
- Your audio collection must be original and created specifically for the contest.
- The sounds must be produced in LMMS. Additionally, you may also use any other program for mastering and post-processing the final files. If you use another program for modifying the final sounds, you should also include a text file in the source folder describing what modifications you made.
- We recommend making each sound short, about 1 to 3 seconds long.
- Your audio collection must be released to KDE under a copyleft license (CC-BY, CC-BY-SA), or released into the public domain or equivalent (CC0).
- Even if your work does not win, your submission or parts of it may still be used to promote KDE's software and in future KDE software releases.
- You can submit up to 1 sound collection entry.
- Sound files must be in WAV/PCM 48kHz, 8 or 16bits, and OGG/Vorbis I format accompanied by the LMMS source files and resources, using the licenses specified in item number 5.
- Final sound files must be normalized [normalized to what volume? We need to check this].
- You may only use synthesis instruments or CC0 samples (please note not all samples in LMMS are CC0 licensed).
- The preview for audio collections can be hosted by any third-party service such as Soundcloud or YouTube.
- Final resources, which includes final sounds in .wav/.oga + LMMS source files + .xpf synthesizer presets (if available) + text file with modifications made to sounds by third-party software (if applicable) must be made available for download from a storage (FTP or similar) or cloud service.
- Your entry must be available for listening until the end of the judging process. If not, your entry will be disqualified.
- The organizers will disqualify and erase any entry that is racist, sexist, demeaning or inappropriate in any way.
- The organizers will disqualify and erase any entry that is copied from elsewhere with no or minimum changes or violates third parties' copyrights.
- Disqualifications and deletions are final and cannot be recurred.
- We reserve our right to delay or cancel the competition at any time.
Process
A jury made up of members of KDE's [groups form which judges will be chosen from] will judge the audio collections. At the end of the submission phase, three finalists per category will be selected for the second round.
The second round will last one week, during which the judges might ask to tweak some aspects of the sounds to make them more suitable for Plasma. At the end of that week, the winning collection will be selected.
Prizes
The physical prizes will consist of a bundle of KDE Goodies, including stickers, apparel, and other goodies.
