Plasma Setup
Project Abstract
Plasma Setup currently targets desktop systems, but it would benefit from supporting Plasma Mobile and other devices with varying screen sizes. This project aims to extend Plasma Setup into a convergent, cross-device setup wizard by improving its adaptive Kirigami UI and evaluating whether desktop-only dependencies (i.e., kcm_keyboard from plasma-desktop) can be reused directly on mobile or require minimal decoupling to support both experiences cleanly.
Deliverables
An updated Plasma Setup that behaves properly across different types of devices (e.g., desktop, mobile, tablet) and screen resolutions, with appropriately handled dependencies.

Weekly Progress
Week 1
- Discussed project goals and priorities (2026-01-23)
To-do:
- Get acquainted with repositories plasma-setup and plasma-mobile
- Assess how tightly coupled the kcm_keyboard dependency is
- Setup VMs running KDE Linux and Plasma Mobile
- Test whether Plasma Setup works on Plasma Mobile with existing plasma-desktop dependencies
- Refresh QML/Kirigami knowledge and review responsive UI design fundamentals
