29th birthday

From KDE Community Wiki

KDE will celebrate its 29th Anniversary on October 14, 2025.

Celebration

We would like you to host an event in your city during the month of October 2025. On October 14, Microsoft will end support for Win10, turning hundreds of millions of computers that can’t upgrade to Windows 11 into security risks and potential eWaste. To celebrate KDE's birthday this year, let’s do something meaningful: host in-person support events like repair cafés, Linux installation fests, collaborations with independent computer shops, anything that helps people keep their devices useful and secure. It doesn’t have to be big; it could be a small get-together or a larger community event. And it doesn’t need to happen on the 14th. It can be any time in October. Just don’t forget to share some photos with us afterwards!

This event ended up with no attendees. More cake for me! (I was so tired of cake by the end. Lesson: If you bake a cake for an event and there may be no attendees, bake a SMALL cake.)

We discussed organizing a replacement community event under a different banner, ate some cake, then checked out early.
