Revision as of 16:58, 27 October 2014

The KDE Applications release which is planned for December 2014 will contain applications which are still based on Qt4 and kdelibs 4.x, and the first stable Qt5+KF5-based release of some others. The decision will be taken on a per-application basis by the maintainers/core developers.

This page aims to provide an overview of the decisions which have been taken already. For some applications, it is important to know if a Qt5+KF5-based of their runtime dependencies (e.g., the Konsole KPart for an embedded terminal) will be available.

Applications which will release their first stable Qt5+KF5-based version in December 2014

Name of the application Further information (links to relevant mailing list threads, wiki pages, etc.)
Gwenview Port started by David Edmundson, merged into master after discussion with Aurelien.
Kanagram Ported a few months ago. All on master branch now.
Kate/KWrite Ported since more than a half year to KF5/Qt5, merged into master by Christoph.
Konsole Ported for quite a while - It is highly unlikely a new KDE4 version would have any major additions, so we might as well try for KF5 version - merged the framework branch to master.
Okteta Ported since more than a year to KF5/Qt5, merged into master by Friedrich.
Parley Port is already done together with libkdeedu, which is now called libkeduvocdocument after the rest of the kde edu library was moved or removed.
KAlgebra Master is KF5 and is the version should be released.

Applications which will still release a Qt4+kdelibs 4.x-based version in December 2014

Name of the application Further information (links to relevant mailing list threads, wiki pages, etc.)
Artikulate Port in frameworks branch, free of kdelibs4support, rewrite of QtQuick based UI not yet stable enough.
KMag Port in frameworks branch, free of kdelibs4support, but awaits Qt5 port of qaccessibilityclient.
KmPlot Port started in frameworks branch, does not work yet.
KolourPaint Port in frameworks branch, still uses kdelibs4support, but has unresolved major issue with missing tool icons when frameworks integration plugin is not loaded. Status posted to http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-imaging/2014-October/016119.html
KRuler Port in frameworks branch, free of kdelibs4support, but has unresolved issues with window moving.
Rocs Port in frameworks branch, free of kdelibs4support, but severe problems with Qt5.3 (which are fixed in Qt5.4).

Applications for which the decision has not been taken yet
