You can obtain binary packages of KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5.2 in many distributions. This page aims to list the available binary packages, but it is not an exhaustive list and there may be new packages available that are not currently listed here.

Kubuntu

Packages for Kubuntu Ever since Wily (15.10), Kubuntu has shipped with KDE Frameworks 5 as part of the regular repositories. To upgrade to to the latest, please install the new release Xenial / 16.04.

Live Image with Packages from Git The Weekly Live Image, updated every Friday with latest source from Git to run a full system from a USB disk. Based on Kubuntu.

KDE Frameworks 5 and Plasma 5 are also available in the Current development version of Kubuntu, now in testing.

openSUSE

openSUSE Tumbleweed

The openSUSE Tumbleweed receives regular updates of Qt and Frameworks packages as part of its rolling-release cycle. Due to the automated testing involved prior to the release of a snapshot, there might be some delays between the Frameworks release and the availability of packages.

Advanced users can use a set of dedicated repositories (see below).

Additional package repositories

You can use the repositories maintained by the openSUSE KDE community team to get updated packages faster. Stable Frameworks releases are tracked in the KDE:Frameworks5 repository (both Tumbleweed and Leap).

Live Images

The openSUSE community KDE team maintains also two live images, which track the **git master** state of the Frameworks repositories, updated weekly:

  • Argon, based on openSUSE Leap;
  • Krypton, based on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

Both are available at the KDE:Medias download area on download.opensuse.org

Arch Linux

On Arch Linux, packages for KDE Frameworks are available in the official [extra] repository. To install execute the command

# pacman -Syu
# pacman -S kf5 kf5-aids

Fedora

Qt 5 and KF5 packages are available in fedora's core repositories.

AOSC OS

AOSC OS (https://aosc.io) provides the newest KDE Frameworks packages, AOSC OS packagers provides updates to the newest version of KF5 as soon as they are made public.

Gentoo Linux

KF5 packages are currently in the KDE overlay, and are part of the @kde-frameworks set. For more information please visit the Gentoo wiki

Mageia

KF5 is available in Mageia cauldron ( Development Release ) </translate>

ROSA

Latest stable KDE Frameworks 5 packages for ROSA Desktop Fresh can be installed from the unofficial KDE Backports repository in 1-2 days after release. After some testing these packages are pushed to the official Main repository (but some releases may be skipped).
