There was 'Airborne' for 1.3, 'Fast Forward' for 1.4... and now we need something good for 2.0

General ideas

<sven423> I thought about something that says "we bring freedom/free software to new platforms"
<Nightrose> we should go for something with "free" like KDE
<sven423> but shorter ;)
<Nightrose> -> going to new desktops
<Nightrose> or something along the lines of "crossing borders"

Suggestions

  • Amarok 2. I like this one, mostly because Amarok 2 is already has a strong "brand", we have been throwing around the term ever since we started working on it, and it is immediately recognizable. --lfranchi

Some Mike Oldfield inspired names: Markey

  • Platinum
  • Moonlight Shadow
  • Discovery
  • 5 Miles Out

A 17-step name scheme for the 2.0 series (no idea if we need that many, but then we have them ;) ) Leinir

  • Song titles from Mike Oldfield's The Songs of Distant Earth:
2.0.0 : In The Beginning (first release is always bound to be a touch buggy and not receive widespread adaptation)
2.0.1 : Let There Be Light (Second release, we're starting to make ground)
2.0.2 : Supernova (The explosion - everybody lurves us!)
2.0.3 : Magellan (Far out, even GNOMERs use the 'rok!)
2.0.4 : First Landing (Windows users start noticing)

...and so on

2.0.17 : A new beginning (Apple drops iTunes and say people should just use Amarok in stead ;) )

Some leftovers from the 1.4 brainstorming:

  • Superhero
  • Ascension
  • Sunrise
