KDE is powered by its amazing volunteers who donate their expertise and time! But past a certain point, people often find that their time budgets shrink, and their monetary needs rise. It's important that people can continue to contribute to KDE on a professional basis, ensuring their their substantial skills remain within the community.

To that effect, there are various ways that people can make a living working on KDE:

  • Work for a software consultancy within the KDE ecosystem, many of whom work on KDE software directly or offer their employees time to work on KDE projects
  • Work for the KDE e.V.
  • Apply for Nlnet grants to fund a specific project you'd like to work on that would benefit KDE. Practically everything KDE does is eligible, and the NLnet people are fans of KDE! The KDE e.V. is available to help with the grant-writing process; email kde-ev-board@kde.org for assistance
