only black screen with plymouth enabled (AMD driver/plymouth/sddm) issue
Workaround (for me):
- Edit /etc/default/grub: the line "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=". Delete the words "quiet splash" (leave the quotation marks ).
- Run sudo update-grub
